Challenge Iceland Trek is Storming Success!

The Essex and Herts Air Ambulance Trust Challenge Iceland trek was successfully completed by 28 fit fundraisers who walked over 70km through breath-taking scenery, experiencing ice cold river crossings and geothermal swimming in the magnificent natural wilderness of Iceland! So far, the trekkers have raised over £38,000 for the Charity and funds are still coming in!

The trekkers walked and camped in remote wilderness for 4 days and on the last day treated themselves to either a trip to the Blue Lagoon or whale watching. The team included James O’Neill, Southend Radio presenter, who gave daily live feedbacks on air from Iceland plus three members of staff from Essex and Herts Air Ambulance Trust who themselves raised funds for the Charity in order to participate. The ages of the participants span across 46 years with the youngest being 21 years old and the oldest being 67 years old!

The team worked extremely hard to prepare for the trip, dedicating their time, money and effort to make the trek such a huge success and raising a phenomenal sum of money for the life-saving helicopter. I would also like to say a big thank you to James and everyone at Southend Radio for their support and to Lodge Coaches for providing us with free transport to Gatwick Airport.”
