Wow what a night! Katya Virshilas, a professional dancer as seen on TV and World Champion ballroom dancer Klaus Kongsdal were special guests at our Strictly Air Ambulance event at the Brentwood Centre on Friday night. The audience was treated to a glittering night of dance and music with 3 special performances by Katya and Klaus.
X Factor 2008 finalist Austin Drage also made a special guest appearance as a judge and wowed the audience with his amazing voice. More music was provided by Essex Blues Idol Josh Dubovie with his cool rendition of 'Cry Me A River'.
Congratulations to Jason Scott and his partner Callie Arnold who were crowned Strictly Air Ambulance champions 2010! Also a BIG thank you to all the other contestants that took part, you all did amazingly well!
The money has been counted and the total funds generated on the night is over £7,000! So well done to everybody involved and thank you to the audience for your generosity.

Jason Scott
Jason Scott, 21, lives in Chelmsford with his partner and cat, Roxy. He is a duty manager in a busy restaurant in Chelmsford, but has always dreamt of owning his own dance studio.
Jason has been dancing since he was four years old and is his passion in life and part of who he is. He says dancing means everything to him because when he is dancing he feels like he can fully express himself in a spiritual way.
Runner Up
Su Harrison
Leicester lass Su is one half of Heart Breakfast’s Martin & Su. For the past 9 years she’s been waking up Essex and claims it’s the best job she’s ever had… even if she does have to see Martin Day first thing every morning!
Taking part in Strictly Air Ambulance is a dream come true for 38 year old Su, who has enjoyed dancing since she was a kid. She is also desperate to win as she is probably the most competitive person you will ever meet!
2nd Runner Up
Derek Williams
52 year old Derek works in the building and refurbishment industry. He is a bit of a fitness fanatic, regally visiting the gym and competing in triathlons. Dancing is a new challenge to him and one he is very much looking forward to.
It’s also quite an exciting time for him as he is set to become a grandad for the first time 2 weeks before the big night so let’s hope his daughter doesn’t leave it too late or Derek might be doing the hot towel cha cha cha!
Congratulations to Derek for the birth of his first grandaughter Layla, who was born on Tuesday night!
Colleen Perkins
Colleen has an exciting year ahead; she is due to get married in May. She lives in Rochford with her fiancé and her dog Archie, and works for Essex Police.
The 25 year old is no stranger to the dance floor, she does both Tap and Ballet and says she “loves and lives to dance”.
Clare Bricknell
Clare has been dancing since the age of 9, competiting in Ballroom and Latin competitions until she decided at the age of 15 that she wanted to spend time with her friends instead!
She works for a local authority monitoring budgets for enterprise, tourism and regeneration, buts she’s also training to be an accountant spending a lot of spare time studying for the exams, which doesn’t leave much time for dancing rehearsals but she is very much looking forward to it.
Mark Shirran
Mark is one of our Essex Air Ambulance Doctors, he has recently moved back to Essex from Australia where he spent 5 years enjoying the sun and surf.
He recently got engaged to his partner Jo, and as she claims he’s got two left feet she is more than keen for him to have dance lessons before their wedding!
